This exhibition is not just a retrospective of Kollhoff’s own work, but illustrates his influence
on generations of students as professor of architecture at the Federal Polytechnic of Zürich.
The models here have been made over the last 25 years and illustrate Kollhoff's developing
interest in the continuity of urban and architectural ideas. His trajectory towards studies of
the architectural language of the Renaissance, and the experiments of his students in this
idiom, pose questions about the common ground of history and how it should be
synthesised and developed. 1:1 details of buildings demonstrate Kollhoff's mastery of
contemporary construction, and demonstrate how he reconciles a historical architectural
language with today's technology.
